This week from The Forklift: Life Philosophy

“No matter what anyone says or does, my task is to be good. Like gold or emerald or purple repeating to itself, ‘No matter what anyone says or does, my task is to be emerald, my color undiminished.’”
from Marcus Aurelia’s “Meditations’s”

If we don’t have the right attitude, the right philosophy, life becomes challenging. We will see the world as a constant uphill climb.

When we have the right philosophy though, life becomes a beautiful struggle with great rewards. We actually embrace the struggle. We become grateful for the life we have, rather than constantly seeing the things we don’t have. The difficulties we once faced strangely turn into challenging opportunities. When we begin to see that life doesn’t happen to us, it actually happens for us, we begin to take on life with new vigor. It gets easier.

The way we see the world greatly dictates how we will receive it. Sometimes we just need to change our glasses. Sometimes we just need to force a smile until it becomes a real one (which happens surprisingly quickly actually).

My glasses are good these days. Much better than my legs! Just wrapped up 30 miles on the Prescott Circle trail at 5,000 feet, great way to spend a Sunday. Beautiful views and got to run with some great friends. Good companionship goes a long way when running 30 tough miles. Today was one of those days. Special. Have one week here to recover before heading to the Grand Canyon to do Rim to Rim to Rim on the 15th(thats 47.5 miles back and forth and just over 20k feet in gross elevation. It will be a doozy).

Still a lot of time to donate for the Leadville cause of course, details can be found at the link below: K2NoLimitationsVirtualEventCatchMatt

So grateful for the pain and struggle. So grateful…that I just get to run – matt

Beautiful sentiment. It is good to be reminded to keep a positive attitude at all times.
